Very, very good point.  I think I made this mistake myself.  I think you are correct.  When I started my WordPress blog my topic was online learning.  This is a great topic but it did not focus on a particular audience.  There are all kinds of people looking for information about online learning such as online students, businesses, university professors, K-12 teachers, instructional designers, etc.  So since I am a university professor and most of my experience revolves around creating and delivering online courses, my blog is directed to brick and mortar university based online faculty and instructional designers.  I have narrowed my niche and have a subtitle that further defines my niche.
